Kennedy was picked up from the GWS Academy at pick 13, and has showed some promising signs at AFL level despite rarely getting the opportunity to play his favoured position at AFL level. Despite the crack at the Blues above, the ex-GWS player he is most probably like (trade wise) is Jack Steele – clearly talented, but often without opportunity in a stacked side.
Without Gibbs in 2018, Carlton will expect Kennedy to shoulder a large load almost immediately. It will be apparent very quickly whether Kennedy is up to the task sans his talented safety net at GWS.
