We’ve discussed in this space that Lang was informed that he was not going to receive a new contract from Geelong for the 2018 season. This trade is more a formality of a club finding a player a new home than the bare-handed acquisition of assets normally seen at trade time.
Lang isn’t worth nothing, and as we have said (A LOT) today, the Blues need AFL level talent. Lang played in a final this year, and looks to be just that. His arrival means that they won’t have to give guys like Rhys Palmer games next year. That is almost always a good thing.
Verdict: A Perfect Trade
